Stay Away From the Line

Matthew 5:27-30

Here is another passage when Jesus says, "You have heard it said . . ." and then "But I say . . ."  So, is He telling us that we don't need to follow the law?  No.  He is telling that not only do we need to follow the letter of the law, but we need to follow the Spirit of the law.  It is not about how close can we get to the line without crossing it and still be OK.  It is really about getting as far away from the line as we can.  It is not about seeing what we can get away with.  It's not about seeing how close we can get to sinning before it turns into a sin.  We should turn and run away as far as we can in the other direction when we are tempted.  What do you think?  How do we do that?
